Terms of Service
Last updated 3 November 2026
These Terms of Service apply to your access to and use of Palixia, an online platform for discovering, reading and publishing independent stories and for participating in reader and writer community features. Palixia is operated as a registered private limited company in Nigeria. References in these terms to “Palixia”, “we” or “us” mean the platform and the people operating it. By using Palixia or creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
1. Eligibility and accounts
- You must provide accurate information when creating or managing an account and keep it reasonably up to date.
- You are responsible for protecting your sign-in details and for activity carried out through your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.
- You must be legally capable of agreeing to these terms. If you are under 18, you may use Palixia only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian where required by applicable law.
- Do not create accounts through impersonation, use another person's account without permission, or provide information that is knowingly false or misleading.
2. Your content and ownership
Authors retain ownership of the original stories, books, text, artwork, covers, profile material and other content they create and publish on Palixia. Publishing content on Palixia does not transfer ownership to Palixia.
You are responsible for the content you submit. You must own it or have all rights, permissions and consents needed to publish it and to grant the permission described below. Keep your own backup of your work.
3. Permission to operate the platform
When you submit or publish content, you grant Palixia a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to host, store, reproduce as technically necessary, display and distribute that content through the service, and to use reasonable excerpts, links or previews to operate and promote Palixia. This permission is limited to those purposes and continues while the content is available on the platform, subject to temporary copies in backups, caches and technical systems. It does not transfer ownership to Palixia or allow us to claim your work as our own.
You can use available account features to unpublish or remove content. If a removal control is unavailable or does not work, contact us as described in the Removal and requests section.
4. Content and conduct rules
You may not use Palixia to publish, upload, send or promote content or conduct that:
- infringes copyright, trademarks, privacy, publicity or other rights, or is plagiarised or stolen;
- is unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, threatening, or intended to facilitate serious wrongdoing;
- sexually exploits, abuses or endangers a minor, or depicts sexual activity involving a minor;
- contains targeted harassment, hateful abuse, threats, doxxing or the unauthorised disclosure of another person's private information;
- is spam, a scam, malicious software, phishing or repeated unsolicited promotion; or
- manipulates reads, likes, follows, comments, polls or other engagement, bypasses access controls, disrupts the service or attempts to access another user's account or data without permission.
You must follow the Community Guidelines and any additional rules shown for a particular feature.
5. Reports, moderation and enforcement
We may review content or activity reported to us or identified through reasonable platform-safety measures. If we reasonably believe content or conduct breaches these terms, applicable law or another person's rights, we may remove or restrict content, limit features, suspend an account or close an account. Where reasonably practical, we will explain the action and provide a way to contact us for review. We may act without prior notice where urgent action is needed to protect users, rights, security or the service, or where the law requires it.
To report a concern, contact info@palixia.com and include the relevant username, book, chapter, post or link and a description of the issue.
6. Free access and payment features
Reading and publishing on Palixia are currently offered free of charge. Paid chapters, subscriptions and general reader-to-author payments are not currently available as public features. Sparks and related author-support and payout features are in pre-launch preparation and are not a promise that a payment feature is available to you now.
If paid features become available, we will provide the applicable prices, payment terms, eligibility rules, fees, refund rules and payout conditions before you use them. Do not send money or payment details to anyone claiming to collect payment on Palixia's behalf outside an official Palixia payment flow.
7. Third-party services and links
Palixia relies on third-party services for functions such as hosting, database and authentication, and may link to external websites or services. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control third-party sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.
8. Availability and changes
Palixia is a developing service. Features may be changed, interrupted, suspended or discontinued, and we cannot promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may update these terms as the service changes. We will update the date at the top when we do. If a change materially affects your use of the service, we will take reasonable steps to bring it to your attention.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Palixia is provided on an “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that user-submitted content is accurate, complete, original, suitable for every reader or continuously available. You are responsible for your own decisions about content you read or interact with.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability, remedy or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Palixia is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service, third-party services or user-submitted content.
10. Removal and requests
For a content-removal request, identify the content and the account associated with it. For an account or personal-data request, contact info@palixia.com from the email address associated with your account where possible. We may ask for reasonable information to verify the request. We will review and respond in accordance with applicable law. Some information may need to be retained for legal, security, dispute-resolution or backup purposes.
11. Governing law and contact
These terms are subject to the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without removing any mandatory consumer or other legal protections that apply to you in your place of residence. If you have a question or complaint about these terms, contact info@palixia.com or use our Contact Us page.
